Bucket List – Being the Smartest Dad and Facebook

I am in Boulder at the Big Data conference and I had the most amazing text experience with my 14 year old daughter, Rachel.

Rachel has her very own Fidelity account and owns a few stocks at the moment which I talk about ocassionally.

Most recently, she texted me from class a few weeks ago when $FB was at $28 to buy her 100 shares (update-she sold half at 31.80)

She has the Stocktwits iPhone app and has her watchlist and checks it a few times a day because she feels connected to what I do for a living.

Here is a screenshot of yesterday’s exchange after she had checked her watchlist:

I am so proud of my daughter and thrilled she is taking the markets seriously and trying to learn the language.

I refuse to believe in the Wall Street mantra that people can’t do this stuff themselves.

Go Rachel.
