Goodbye New York...Hello Amsterdam

Good morning from Amsterdam.

I took the red eye from New York and just finished breakfast at The Conservatorium my favorite hotel (and breakfast) in the world.

Here is a view from my seat in the lobby and restaurant…

It is a gorgeous day here so I plan to make the most of it walking and riding around town.

I had a busy two days of work in New York.

I spent a few hours with the executive team at Van Eck ($100 billion ETF Company) discussing the public and private markets. Van Eck is a long time partner of ours at Social Leverage so it is always great to get in sync about the wealth management industry trends and new products we are seeing and using.

My daughter Rachel lives here as well which makes New York extra special because we like all the same food, shopping and hitting the comedy clubs in the evening,

The first night Rachel and I stopped by my pal Moshe’s fashion show at his Ari Soho store in Soho. It was really fun. Moshe, the founder/designer has built a cult following over the last two decades (me included) and when I am in town I always stop in for a coffee a Japanese Whiskey and often a stroll to 12 Chairs for Israeli food and brand strategy chats.

My friend Farhad joined us who has also been a long time customer. I love this picture of Moshe, Farhad and I (an Iranian, an Israeli and a Shmo):

Rachel, Farhad and and I than did a late night show at The Comedy Cellar and got a special treat with Ray Romano doing a set to close the evening. Obviously he was great. My favorite thing about comedy is how the best in the business, even legends of 40 years will show up for the love of the game to perform in front of small audiences.

The next night Rachel took me to Rubirosa in Soho which I had never tried. Everything was excellent. New York always breaks me with the dinners and late night eating. I lost a favorite pair of pants to the pizza, pasta and cake shrapnel, but that is life in the big city.

I am so thrilled that Rachel loves New York. I am so proud of her hustle, attitude and spirit. She has forced me to try so many nee things in the city, most importantly the subways…

I am looking forward to seeing some great friends here in Amsterdam for dinner tonight.

Have a great day.
