Hello Chicago...Goodbye High Rise Office Commercial Real Estate?

Good morning from Chicago.

It has been a very long time since I visited Chicago.

I forgot how big the city is.

I took a few pictures with old friends Jack Newhouse, Evan Wayne (at Joe’s) and my friends Josh Brown, Ben Carlson, Tadas and Batnick (who happened to be visiting from New York).

It was eerily quiet in the Windy city as I went to meetings at a few high rise office buildings. The people short the office commercial real estate stocks (Vorando, SLG and Empire State Realty Trust) continue to lick their chops.

I can’t figure out the ‘bull’ case for commercial high rise office space but Josh and I could not help ourselves thinking about the people that are still betting on it. This is the most consensus leftover trade from COVID.
