Stocktwits Unique Sentiment Data and NEW Markets Pages Displaying Hundreds of Trending, Active and Most Watched Tickers

Good morning…

One of my favorite ways to use Stocktwits is to check the temperature and sentiment of the markets on a daily basis.

We recently revamped the sentiment page, uncovering deeper insights into how users are perceiving moves.

On the sentiment tab under any ticker, there are now 3 segment breakdowns:

Sentiment: Indicates whether most users posting on a symbol’s stream over the last 24 hours are bearish or bullish. Sentiment Score may be measured on a scale from 0 (extremely bearish) to 100 (extremely bullish).

Message Volume: Measures the total amount of chatter on a stream over the last 24 hours. Message Volume Score may be measured on a scale from 0 (extremely low volume of messages) to 100 (extremely high volume of messages).

Participation Ratio: Measures the number of unique accounts posting on a stream relative to the number of total messages on that stream. A symbol’s Participation Ratio ranges from 0 (extremely low) to 100 (extremely high), where a score of 100 means each account on the stream has posted exactly 1 message. A Participation Ratio closer to 100 is preferable.

Under each tab they now also provide historical benchmarks so you can compare how any of the 3 segments have trended over the last week, month, year etc.

With easily digestible unique data like this, it is now easier than ever for retail to add one more tool to their alpha arsenal.

The second unique data launch and upgrade is the ‘Markets’ tab.

Previously, only 10 names could be viewed under the Trending, Most Active, and Watchers tab, Stocktwits has opened it up so users can now see hundreds and hundreds of tickers.

The data under these tabs is updated every 5 minutes showcasing real time activity and trends across Stocktwits users.

The ‘Trending’ has long been one of my favorite Stocktwits features which becomes even more valuable during earnings season. During earnings, recently reporting names make their way toward the top of the lists making big moves unmissable.

In a world where everyone is after unique data sets and buyers are willing to pay top dollar, it’s rare for retail traders to have in depth and real time data that is so digestible. Not to mention it’s free...

Have a good day.
