Sunday Reads & Listens... Crypto Empire or Shanty Town and The Inflation Challenge

Happy Sunday!

My sleep score on the Eight Sleep mattress last night was 91. The problem is Ellen is scoring low and become a data freak obsessed with why she is sleeping poorly when in fact we bought this product for me!

You can blame today's late daily email on Eight Sleep. So far Ellen is in the camp that we must return it.

Anyways...for some real laughs the Conan O'Brien and Bill Burr recent podcast was very funny. You can skip the whole opening and get right into it. Very silly stuff.

There is a lot to read into the 'magazine cover' effect from the coverage of Crypto this week.

Here is The Economist and Bloomberg magazine covers:

I don't know much, but I know these type of magazine covers do not age well. I will check back in a year. As for 'Crypto Empire' Bloomberg is sure using the term 'Empire' loosely as it relates here to FTX.

FTX fell apart in less than a week, tipped over by a competitors trade. FTX was a 'Shanty Town' not an empire. The coverage of this theft and fraud by mainstream media has been abysmal.

Onwards to the joyous topic of inflation. I have two good reads. The first is a good take on policies we need to fight inflation. Have a read.

The second is by Thomas Hoenig who voted against QE in 2010 because he was worried about the effects once you stopped it. That is exactly where we are in 2022. The piece is titled 'The Inflation Challenge'.

I will keep it short this week. Have a great Sunday.
