Being 61...I Have 21.04 Years To Live

Get Tickets HERE.

Good morning from Coronado…

I am now firmly in my 60’s, with a few days under my belt at 61.

This no great feat living in a ‘developed’ (for now) nation where 90 plus percent of people live past 60.

I am not a big birthday person (though I did throw a fun party for my 60th last year in Vegas). I live a good life and feel like everyday is my birthday so Ellen and I just stayed in and watched a few new shows. On Friday, our friends Jamie and Kevin took us out for dinner. I have been buddies with Kevin since my late teens and summer camp (Winnegaboe)…

My great philosophical takeaway of my 60’s so far…Most days I feel like I am in my late 40’s, but there are some days I feel 70.

This morning I woke up with a bit of a limp because my foot is bothering me. I have no idea how I hurt my foot. Do I need to go to a doctor? Is it foot cancer?

I would like to talk about AI and the markets, but if I am on my way out with a rare foot disease, why bother?

Being in my 60’s is all I think about. I think that makes sense.

I have goals, but mostly I just want to be a grandparent.

According to the actuarials, I have 21.04 years to live. If I was in my 50’s, I would round that number down, but not in my 60's. That .04 is a few good weeks of watching YouTube and Netflix. Ellen is 11 days younger than me and her life expectancy from here is 23.90 years. I am surprised more men in their 60’s are not transitioning for those 2.9 extra years.

I have Googled people’s ages more in the last year than my whole life.

Yesterday, Ellen and I were watching this EXCELLENT interview with Aaron Sorkin and I asked Ellen to Google his age, which is 65. Aaron is a master at his craft. I did not know his first movie was ‘ A Few Good Men’. His new ‘Facebook’ movie is coming out so he is doing the press tour. I am a huge fan but really knew little about him and now I know a lot. In his 20’s and 30’s he had some dark years filled with drugs. He thinks AI might just fade away, but that is what any successful person in their 60’s might say. When pressed on if he would use AI if it would help him overcome the ‘idea generation’ part of his job, he changed his mind and said ‘absolutely’. It is worth a watch…

Last night Ellen and I watched Robert DeNiro’s new Netflix movie ‘Whisper Man’ which was pretty good. He is 83 years old ( Googled it during the movie). According to the actuarials, I would be dead already, so good on Robert.

Have a good Sunday.
