Here Comes Golf....
Happy Friday.
I spent most of the day yesterday up at Silverleaf in North Scottsdale. Silverleaf has become the center of Scottsdale/Phoenix golf. John Rahm, Tony Finau and Max Homa call it home. The owner has invested a lot of money in making it a fun place to socialize play and practice.
The Phoenix Open is in town this weekend, so Phoenix is 'extra' awash with people in the golf industry. I planned a day of meetings with friends, investors and golf company founders to take advantage of the moment.
While my own game is in neglect and disarray, my interest in the game is high.
The LIV tour has broken down the walls of the PGA. Doing battle with an entity that draws endless money from the center of the earth will not be quick and decisive.
Top Golf has exploded and been great for the game.
YouTube, Instagram and now TikTok are full of incredible instruction.
In the meantime, the technology that powers the industry is in two words 'mostly lame'.
That is now quickly changing.
My son Max is in the PGA program at UNLV and has worked with most of the software products on the course side and he says startup Whoosh (we are personal investors) is light years ahead in course management software.
Yesterday I invited SWAG golf, Whoosh, Grass Clippings and Join Commonwealth for a day of discussions. It was a blast. There is a lot of excitement about the game, the changes, and the possibilities from equipment to fashion, to media, to formats and to betting.
We capped off the day with a fun dinner. It is extra fun to have Max (with the beard) and his PGA friends engaged in the discussions.

Social Leverage will soon be announcing an exciting investment in the golf industry which has been coming together for the last few months. It is not an investment that will improve my game, but it is one that will make the game more fun and exciting.
Have a great day.
