Congratulations to Greycroft and to Marissa of Stocktwits

My friends at Greycroft have just closed their second digital media fund for $130 million .

I have invested with Greycroft in a few deals including Buddy Media and Marketbright and we have become friends.

I was thrilled when they offered me a role as a Venture Partner with the new fund, but we decided over time that my time conflicts were too much and that I would continue to work at arm’s length with them.

While discussing the opportunity, I wanted them to consider Marissa who has worked for both Stocktwits in business development and as an analyst at my fund Social Leverage. Marissa is a crack analyst, a web native and has amazing instincts for good investments and solid entrepreneurs. They did not consider very long and they have hired her. It makes perfect sense than that she take a role as a Senior Associate at Greycroft with a great team and ready fund to take her skills to the next level.

Marissa is the first person we have lost at Stocktwits. I am proud of the fact that as crazy as I am, we have kept a tight crew. Sometimes, great offers for great people just make total sense. This one did. They better treat her good.
