Don’t Ask For Permission and Don’t Beg For Forgiveness...Go Mike Bloomberg
My friend Josh Brown had a couple of excellent tweets yesterday…
You know what Michael Bloomberg didn’t do? Spend two months traipsing around diners, drive-ins and dives in Iowa to beg for a handwritten piece of loose leaf paper in a high school gymnasium. Guy’s trying to win in 2020, not carry on norms that the other party shattered already.
The lesson of the last decade, whether it’s Trump or Musk or Bezos is that none of the old norms will apply or be counted against you. The bigger risk was not taking enough risk, ending up like Jeb or GM or a shopping mall.
I don’t remember who told me this rule of business/life 30 years ago, but it stuck with me:
Do not ask for permission, beg for forgiveness
.
In this era we have moved to ‘Do not ask for permission and do not beg for forgiveness‘
I have no idea what comes next, but in the case for our next President, I hope it is Mike Bloomberg.
