Education is on our Minds...You Can See it in the Price Action

People vote everyday when it comes to the stock market.

Yesterday, Fred wrote a long post called ‘Hacking Education‘. It’s a great one that gets into the testing our kids endure, how the system is gamed, how DonorsChoose.org is putting dollars directly in the learning system, how Wikipedia is a teaching aid and more.

In the stock market, the education stocks have held up well. Education is on all our minds. It’s in the public consciousness. People are out of work. Americans and must reinvent themselves and maybe this sector is due for more hypergrowth.

I am no fan of the educational public stock sector. I am cycnical of financial shenanigans. I have long said on this blog that I have never seen a Devry graduate ‘in the wild’. Maybe that is about to change.

The leaders in terms of price action are Devry (DV), American Public Education (APEI), New Oriental Education (EDU), ITT Educational Services (ESI), and Strayer Education (STRA).

That is a lot of group strength in one hell of a shitty market.
