Fred Wilson On His Favorite Themes...Investing Slumps and Homeruns...The Best Have Both Of Course
Good morning
If you are an investor or founder you MUST listen to Fred Wilson when he gives these rare interviews (link here and below ).
Fred used to be very social/prolific on the web and lucky for me it was right when I started to make software and internet seed investments back in 2005. Today he does this on the farcaster app (which I don’t use, but probably should). Fred is very focused on the protocol being the platform and as he explains in the interview, crypto is just where he feels most in tune as an investing theme. Fred was earkly investor in Coinbase and still on the board, as well as early Twitter, Zynga, Etsy, Mercado Libre, Soundcloud, Indeed and on and on.
Fred has been a friend, a mentor, a cheerleader, an LP and investor in my companies since I cold emailed him in 2005.
He sat down in May (wish I would have listened that day) with Farcaster founder Dan Romero to talk about past and present and future. It really heats up by minute 14 and I plan on listening to it again. Fred just lays out the obvious that it is open season and the wild west in crypto for at least the next two years if not four. Since the interview, $COIN ( ▲ 1.41% ) is up 50 percent ( I own some but sold some yesterday).
He talks about his ‘bad’ habit of getting in too early and ‘out’ too early which I have explained to him is because he was born by C Section. We should all have Fred’s bad habits!
I have a bunch of questions for Fred that the interview kicked off for me, so I will pester him with get him on a podcast with me over the summer.
Have a good day.
