Goodbye Tokyo...Back To Coronado
We ate, we ate, we ate, we ate and we ate and we drank
We are headed back home today after running around Tokyo the last four days with the family.
We (me) are not a vacation family …Jim Gaffigan explains my thesis perfectly…
But, the kids are older, we get along well and what the hell!
I am not a foodie, but I love good food, especially Japanese.
Before coming to Tokyo, all of us built lists friends told us to visit and I don’t think we hit but two or three, but still the food was incredible.
We were all amazed at the size and scale of the city.
From fatty tuna and making our own sushi at the markets, to Kobe steak and Glitch coffee in Ginza to udon/ramen underneath Shibuya station and drinking at the mini bars in Gia…food and drink was the goal and we crushed it. I have the sweats just writing about it.

Late night I wanted to check out how the Japanese movie experience and saw Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible which they were going nuts for (The movie blows). The IMAX theaters and screens were huge, the theaters clean, the lines insanely orderly and the popcorn perfectly popped.

The most touristy thing we did turned out to be fun and hysterical as we went to a bar to watch a staged Sumo wrestling show. Max and his girlfriend Amy ended up squaring off in the ring after a quick lesson from the professionals…

Rachel was in charge of food tours and temple visits so we covered that as well.
I am grateful there is a direct flight from Tokyo to San Diego.
Back to work.
