Happy 4th Of July And Do Not Let Me Book Your Travel!
Good morning and happy 4th of July and Independence Day.
Ellen and I are supposed to be in Toronto this morning, but I have once again screwed up my travel pans.
Last month I mentioned here that I went to LaGuardia to catch a flight that I had actually booked from Newark.
Yesterday, I dragged Ellen to the airport to catch our Air Canada flight to Toronto from San Diego, but it turns out I booked the flight leaving from Phoenix.
We are going to try again in a few hours and I am pretty sure I have done it right this time. I did book us on the ‘Ferry’ from Coronado to San Diego just to tempt the gods.
Onward…
I just ‘Googled’ Independence day and got this definition:
On the 4th of July in 1776, the United States gained independence from Great Britain by the Continental Congress. In an almost unanimous decision, 12 of the 13 North American colonies voted for the separation from Great Britain.
Thank goodness. I mean think of the shitty food we would be eating!
I am so grateful and lucky to be living legally (for the moment) in the United States.
I moved to Phoenix for graduate school at ASU, eared a green card back in the 90’s, married Ellen and had two great American kids.
In America I get to tweet for free to to as many people as Elon allows me to on any given day.. If I paid $8, I would get the same thing, but would help also help make autonomous driving better and help Elon make more babies. Pass.
We are lucky to have a home on the wonderful ‘island’ of Coronado. The Navy has a huge presence here…

It is a beautiful and safe place.
I realize my freedom is not free.
Have a great 4th.
