Holding The Microphone and Free Speech

Yesterday on Twitter I said this:

Of course there were some funny responses here.

I was our annual founder and LP conference host and MC this past weekend.

I said much funnier and probably meaner things to many of my friends/acquaintances in a crowded room from the stage than Chris Rock. More importantly, I am NOT a comedian.

At no point did I expect anyone to come up on stage to slap me as Will Smith did to Chris Rock at the Academy Awards.

I am amazed so far with how calm Chris Rock stayed. It plays well I believe on video that he did.

If Chris Rock does not press charges and/or there are no real repercussions for Will Smith, he is a lucky lucky man.

I hate that I have to now be more careful about what I have to say on stage in front of my community and peers after seeing this.

I definitely lost some free speech this weekend, which lucky for me won’t change my life.

I will practice a little bit of my free speech by never watching another piece of work by Will Smith.

Everyone loses something here.
