How Hungry Are You?
I am 43 and have been asking myself that question a lot lately and to those around me.
I smell monstrous opportunities and talk about them all the time, but I have to be honest that I don’t know how much I want to bite off. I am not sure how hungry I am because of the trade-offs.
I feel happy, and I feel like I am living life to the fullest (for a white, softish jew) but how do you really know?
I think the big questions that many entrepreneurs forget to ask themselves are:
1. What the f#%%$*^ck do I really want?’
2. What if this dumb/great idea really works?
In essence, we read about failure all day long and confront it every day as entrepreneurs so as optimistic as we are, we forget that you just could be successful.
Since the odds favor failure, how do you deal with even the slightest successes?
I remember my bestest friend and father figure Arthur Rockert (passed away now) used to offer me guidance at what I felt were critical junctures both good and bad. I miss him and although I have my wife and trusted friends, there is a blindspot.
Make sure you think about success, even during tough times like these. It can sneak up on you and you MUST enjoy it.
That is all :) .
PS – Tough to come back with a post after the doozy of a Twitter post. Thanks for all the great feedback you maniacs.
