Justin Reis, Co-Founder & Global Chief Executive Officer at WatchBox, Joins Me on Panic with Friends to Discuss How Tech is Revitalizing the Already Timeless Luxury Watch Market (EP.154)
I love watches.
I bought them the old fashioned way for a very long time (retail store). Recently I was introduced to Justin Reis, the founder of Watchbox.com and he quickly explained his company and the industry. I was blown away.
WatchBox is the world’s leading platform for the buying, selling, and trading of pre-owned luxury watches, with offices in the U.S., Hong Kong, Switzerland, Singapore, and Dubai

What’s the Panic About:
This episode we’re talking about a subject near and dear to my heart: watches. Watches continue to be a timeless investment piece synonymous with value. And as someone who has collected over 50 watches, I was super excited to bring on Justin Reis of WatchBox to learn more about the growing tech-enabled luxury commerce market. WatchBox is the world’s leading platform for the buying, selling, and trading of pre-owned luxury watches, with offices in the U.S., Hong Kong, Switzerland, Singapore, and Dubai. Prior to co-founding WatchBox, Justin was a co-founder and former partner of the private investment group Presidio Capital, which has over US $1 billion in capital deployed throughout Asia Pacific and beyond. In this episode, Justin talks with my co-hosts and I all about the luxury commerce market, WatchBox’s hybrid high-tech high-touch model, how their service works, the typical WatchBox customer, having value in brand equity, WatchBox TV, collectability, the rise in Apple and other tech watches, NFTS, and more. I also offered up some great dating tips this episode, which I know everyone was dying to hear about!
The Takeaway:
The real opportunity here is that the luxury watch industry has incredible liquidity. This market for “pre-owned” luxury watches has become the best place to assess the value of a watch over time and provide liquidity to watch owners. The amazing thing is WatchBox is taking that same concept and putting it into the digital world. Customers can buy and trade watches from WatchBox, leave them in their vault, and build a portfolio of watches all in their digital wallet. In short: Liquidity is the future.
