Leaving Tel Aviv and Next Year’s FinTech and Falafel Conference

I’m on my way back to New York for the weekend.

Tel Aviv blew my mind the last few days. The intensity of the entrepreneurs, the people, the food and the city is intoxicating.

I got to hang with my good friends Yoni and Ronen Assia (founders of Etoro) and hear about their global expansion.

I was happy to see so many women in FinTech founders as well. Leading the charge is Mor Assia of iAngels who is building an incredible platform for Israeli entrepreneurs to raise capital and expand. Yoni and Mor are a global FinTech power couple and it’s exciting to see their impact in Israel over the last few years alone.

We are still in the early days of the active versus passive argument and when it comes to investing based on my discussions with lead banking executives at Leumi and Hapoalim.

I plan on making an annual November trip on behalf of Social Leverage and Stocktwits to capitalize on the globalness of this discussion and opportunity. The good people of Propel Ventures (Ryan, Tom and Jay) have agreed to help organize the first ever FinTech and Falafel conference next November in Tel Aviv.

We want the best FinTech founders from the USA in the same room with the best of Israel for a few days next November. Of course we we will drag along some of the best investors in the space as well.

Stay tuned.
