There is no Such Thing as an Open Platform or Passive Investing
As we wind down 2016 I thought the following was pretty funny from The Daily Show:
This year was a shitshow.
America has a 7 year old President and India created a new currency it can’t print.
In 2017 we will continue to see a Silicon Valley fund the next great ‘Open Platform’ and Wall Street argue ‘Passive vs. Active’. Both are lies.
This headline today from the Financial Onion (Wall Street Journal) is my fave of the year on the subject of active vs. passive:
The best long-term networks/platforms are closed even though they may start out open.
Personally, I learned a ton and I am grateful that my family is tight. My social network continues to get stronger despite the occasional cancerous node. The big lesson is to keep making deposits into your social bank accounts. You never know when you need to make a withdrawal.
