A Perfect Day in Manhattan and Twitter Roulette
It was a perfect day in Manhattan…sunny, room temperature, slight breeze, no humidity.
I had a damn good Manhattan food day as well…breakfast at The Gramercy, taco lunch at Tacombi, a Shake Shack snack in Madison Square Park and Noodles (Great NY Noodletown).
I always play ‘Twitter Roulette’ in New York City which means I leave a lot of time open on my calendar for random meetings that materialize because of the power of Twitter.
Today ‘Twitter Roulette’ worked brilliantly…the randomness did not materially screw up the scheduled meetings.
I woke up early and saw Joe Wiesenthal (at Bloomberg) ask ‘what did I miss’ on Twitter. He does that every morning at 4 am.
I chimed in …you might have missed that I am in NYC so get me on your show.
And he did.
Now I needed a shave and a haircut.
Of course it’s Manhattan so I figured I would pass a barber shop at some point. Sure enough, while walking to a meeting on 21st street in Flatiron I passed a shop and ducked in. While waiting, I got into a Twitter conversation and Fred Wilson chimed in. I said I was in the neighborhood if he had time for a hello. He said he was on his way for lunch at Shake Shack so we walked and talked about some ideas and portfolio companies and of course I had a ‘snack’ (cheeseburger and shake).
If all days in Manhattan were like today, life would be grand.
I’m sure tomorrow will offer plenty to be outraged about, but I am grateful for today.
