Slowing Down Outside London At Heckfield Place and Fine Tuning My Filters

Good Saturday afternoon from wonderful Heckfield Place outside London in Hampshire.

There is a study off our bedroom which is a great room for doing work and at the moment writing this newsletter…

Ellen and I are taking a few days mostly off the grid trying to relax after a lot of running around London.

When Ellen Max and I we arrived in London last Sunday, we had this fantastic Indian dinner with my great pal JP Rangaswami. JP knows Max very well as we all went to the British Open in 2019. I invited another pal Ravi Nandan along who happened to be in London. I knew JP and Ravi would hit it off (they did) and we had a great Indian meal. We discussed media of course as Ravi is a partner at A24, but we also talked AI - specifically as it relates to content ownership and distribution (I will try and get them both on Trends With Friends soon), the internet, elections and food.

JP is the person that dropped ‘there is no such thing as information overload, only filter failure’ on me while we were on a speaking tour in Australia back in 2013. I am using my time overseas to rethink all my filters.

In London I did morning meetings and afternoon Wimbledon and now it is just reading and writing and a lot of strategy thinking for Social Leverage and Stocktwits as we rest a few days and head south.

We sent Max home and before we head to Provence (never been) and Nice for the rest of our vacation, our awesome travel guide Michelle recommended we stay at Heckfield.

Ellen and I are not spa people, but I know a good spa when I see one and Heckfield is probably the best I have seen/used.

We have done Yoga, workouts, sauna time, had a massage, biked and had tea. I never do tea.

The food is farm fresh and fantastic.

I will definitely come back here and add cycling and some local golf to the rotation.

I am trying to get myself in the right frame of mind to climb Mont Ventoux with my pals Michael and Roy on Tuesday. It is a beast.

Have a great weekend.
