Sunday Reads And Listens...The Announcement Economy...Are You Not Confused? And Some People to Unconfuse you on Technology and AI.
I am confused and overwhelmed at the moment.
In just the last week I wrote ‘What Could Go Right’ and ‘Is It Time To Panic’
I think the AI slop has got to me.
Because Twitter has all the politicians, billionaires and bootlickers blathering about war, Israel, AI, crypto, lawsuits with each other, the death of software and the overreaction to the death of software, I have been on a mute rampage. I use Twitter to network for myself and our portfolio companies, but that gets harder every day. The ‘announcement economy’, has most people using Twitter right now angrier than normal and confused. By the way, as I link here often, my friend Om has been on a killer run of great content about AI, Apple and media. Go scroll and catch up. Om is an ‘unconfuser’.
I long ago muted Elon, but now had to mute Chamath, David’s Sack and Fukker Tarlson as they have seeped into my timeline as Twitter force opens you into the ‘For You’ stream and before you know it you are angry and confused.
My jewish friends were sending this clip around last week as AI and Crypto Czar and self proclaimed war expert - David’s Sack - thinks Israel is about to be destroyed because of a social media blackout (that isn’t). Of course, none of the guests challenge because this is the podcast of grift and announcements itself. Here is a link to listen if you like.

David’s problem is that the Israeli social media blackout he made up in his head, should be on him and his followers for his algorithm is full of slop and bullshit. David gets ‘community noted’ on Twitter for his bullshit but that and nickel is worth a nickel in a world where lies spread faster than truth
My friend Michael Parekh is another ‘unconfuser’. cMicheal has been a regular on my podcast of course and way back in 2017 when everyone was crypto gaga, Michael was investing in semiconductors and AI. Together, the last few years we covered a lot of his vision for this AI trend as he was early to Nvidia, remained bullish on Google when it was uncool and back on his newsletter amd my show last year explaining why Micron and the memory wave was in motion (the stocks are up huge). He has a daily newsletter on all things AI which you can follow and I have shared for the last few years.
Another ‘unconfuser’ on the subject of AI is Thomasz Tunguz. He has been on fire as an AI explainer with his concise takes as a venture investor in the sector. Lately he is concerned about memory and power shortages.
There are many ‘unconfusers’ out there but they are not wanting anything to do with the ‘announcement economy’. They are quietly using the AI they are excited about.
Obviously Marc Andreessen is brilliant on all things technology, now AI, but I can’t separate the hype from signal. Last week Marc and his partners were slinging content into the ‘announcement economy’ that AI is bigger than ‘the wheel’. I mean who am I to argue. I would like to point out that the wheel bear market of 3600 BC was a doozie! (I am probably making this up though I did announce this as fact/slop on Twitter all week with charts and quotes from the era).’
I am sure there are tens if not hundreds of ‘unconfusers’ on the internet right now, but you really need just a handful to stay properly informed on the products and trends.
I immediately mute the AI ‘experts’ that were also crypto, SAAS, COVID, Ukarine and now Israel war experts.
I am confident this weeks 'mutefest’ and a focus on price action will help get me unconfused again quickly.
Next up…clean my closet for the summer and head on a long bike ride.
