Sunday Reads and Listens...A Little Bit of Everything But Mostly Keep Innovating.

Good Sunday morning.

I am in Coronado with Rachel this weekend for her 25th birthday and we had a great time.  My niece Jordie has been visiting Coronado with her husband Ben and my twin great niece and nephew Quincy and Breaker. 

Rachel has this one flaw which is the uncanny ability to enjoy time alone with me.  

She put up with a few Conan episodes on the drive from Phoenix and we got Conan's producer Adam Sachs to chime in on the tweet.

I introduced Quincy to a fave spot Swagyu and the l combo of Wagyu burger and milkshake...

For most, 2022 was an investment write-off.  Every long-term trend stock I had owned for the last bull run, other than $AAPL, dropped 50-70 percent. The bad investing and froth even caught up with Sequoia who piled in $100 plus million into FTX at the very end of the run and wrote a glowing essay on Sam and why! The awful thing about the whole ordeal is that they deleted the essay from their site.  Here is that essay and everyone should read it if only to give yourself a break for any 2022 mistakes.

I am fascinated by great brands as people know from reading this blog.  With luxury retailer LVMH near all-time highs as we hit a recession, I think the market is speaking about what to pay attention to - whether you like it or not.  This 'Business Breakdowns LVMH' podcast is a great way to learn about the history and structure of the brand.

This innovation essay titled 'Age and the Nature of Innovation' was excellent.  My creativity seems to be at all-time highs at 57, but I am struggling to harness and structure it.  This is a big focus of mine the next part of my life and career.

Season 4 of Fauda is coming out and I have been rewatching season 1-3.  This weekend I poslished off season 2 which was really great.  Fauda means 'chaos' in Arabic.

I talked about the Conan Show earlier and the episode with Ed Helms (The Office and The Hangover) was excellent.  He is so talented.

Finally, as information speeds up relentlessly around us I often wonder why I respond so quickly to emails and texts...I hope Rob is right.

I am going to try and climb Mt. Palomar today to compensate for all the couch time this weekend.
