The Cashtag Awards and A Massive Week Of Wins and Growth For Stocktwits
Good morning…
I am back in Phoenix after a long week of work in New York.
Today our high stakes ($100,000), par 3 under the lights two day Grass Clippings tournament begins.
Joining to host coverage this weekend is the biggest of all golf influencers Paige Spiranic - only problem is I had picked out the same outfit to wear.
Doing social coverage for @GrassLeague all weekend! Make sure to follow them to catch all my content❤️

The golf talent is insane. My son Max (a plus two) tried to qualify and did not quite make the cut and get drafted. Take a look at the list.
Our 10 person team - The Hat Tricks - is out vying for the $100,000 prize and bragging rights as the league explodes in popularity. Other than Robinhood, I have never seen so much product market fit so early in a company/product/business, , especially one without technology and advantages of network effects.
Onward…
On Wednesday, Stocktwits hosted 200 people from the financial community in a packed New York comedy club - The Stand - for the first ever ‘Cashtag’ awards. Our partner for the event was Etoro. We celebrated our community, fintwit and the best of the financial world. My friend Ted Merz -Bloomberg veteran of 30 plus years sums up the ‘why’…

In 2008 Howard co-founded Stocktwits and the "cashtag" ie the practice of putting a $ in front of a ticker on a tweet

Morningstar covers all the awards and event here.
I would like to think I stole the show, but comedian Aaron Berg had the crowd in a state of hysteria for twenty full minutes with his ruthless crowd work.
My team, especially co-host Katie Perry had no idea I would drop the script from the get go and just try some material on the fly, but I could not pass up the opportunity. It was a thrill to get some big laughs, but none of my material is fit/safe for discussion here 🙂 .
Vlad Tenev, co-founder of Robinhood, beat out Brian Armstrong for the biggest award the Cashtag Legend Award. Vlad created a hysterical acceptance video (will share it here next week and YouTube) because he was stuck doing the Robinhood’s earnings call back in California.
I also spent an hour last week taping an interview with Vlad about Robinhood and the future- which I will post here next week. We go back to the early days of our seed investment and look to what is ahead for the now $40 billion brokerage.
My friend Yoni Assia, the founder of Etoro, a multi billion global brokerage and crypto exchange, joined me on stage for some stories/laughs and to share what he is most excited about when it comes to technology and the future…AI no surprise - but also Yoni and team are building amazing features into their platform as we speak.
My personal favorite award is for Stocktwits community member of the year. I met ‘Don Corleone77’ for the first time the day of the show and he just loves sharing content and news with no ego. I love the note he shared today with the community…

I got back very late last night from New York. Of course, I was there to attend the @Stocktwits Cashtag Awards ceremony on Wednesday night.
If you could grant me the liberty of posting a few paragraphs below, there were three things I wanted to share about the event (btw, if you aren't interested, please feel free to stop reading...I don't want this post to bother anyone not interested):
1) Attached is an image of the award which came with a remote where you can light up the award in different colors.
The reason I wanted to post on image of the award is because, even though the award has my user name on it, I really believe it belongs to everyone in the Stocktwits community. Without all the great people on this site that are willing to learn and share information, their would be no "Stocktwits Community Member of the Year.'
While the award will sit on my desk, I want everyone to know that I don't see it as a symbol of my own excellence but as a reminder of the wonderful people I have come to know through Stocktwits who have helped me learn and grow as an individual.
2) While in New York, I did have the privilege of meeting a few people from the site in person. I always find it interesting that in today's world you can build deep, online relationships and never have the opportunity to meet someone in flesh.
Specifically, I got to spend time with a number of great people from the staff of Stocktwits as well as a few members. Among them were @gpaisa (another 'Community Member of the Year' award nominee that was just as deserving of the award), @PhilPearlman1 (that guy has great, positive energy) and @HostileCharts (whose arms are as big as my legs).
I also had the privilege of doing a podcast from the NY studio with @gpaisa, @holdingbags and @JFDI. Folks, those guys know their stuff. If you don't already, I highly suggest you follow them and watch their weekly podcast.
3) The day following the event, I had one of my bucket list items fulfilled when, to my shock and amazement, I was followed by @WallStJesus on Stocktwits. I had to check to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me since that guy is a true legend on this site. I don't know if he was at the event or not but if he was I would have loved to shake his hand. I assume most of you already follow him but, if by chance you don't follow him, I highly suggest doing so ASAP.
Thanks again to everyone (especially @howardlindzon and @Maxgol) for making my time in NY so special. I am truly grateful for everything I have received from this wonderful community.
Again, below is a photo of the award which I believe belongs to the entire community.— DonCorleone77 (@DonCorleone77)
