Toronto, Muskoka and This Week in The Degenerate Economy: Updating the Index (Doubled Down on Affirm and Dutch Bros) And Why Prediction Markets Could Be Crypto’s Next Trillion-Dollar Trend.
Plus: What to Expect at Stocktoberfest this year!
Good morning…
Before I get started…’the degenerate economy’ has really caught on as a catchphrase. This week it made the print and digital Wall Street Journal. It was fun to have my friends notice and forward the article (I don’t read it)

Onward…
I am in Muskoka for the Labor Day long weekend as I have been doing for years…

I was in Toronto for a couple days first to see my mom, my sister and meet my two new great nieces - here is one of them:

My favorite bagel in the world is Toronto’s ‘Bagel World’ and my go to is the poppy twister with a scoop of cream cheese…

Toronto is home to a few portfolio founders - Braden at Fiscal.ai as well as Dave and Arsham of Ribbon.ai - so we had lunch to catch up and brainstorm.

Each Wednesday I now record ‘this week in the degenerate economy’ and in this week’s episode I cover the following topics:
Updates to the Degenerate Economy Index, adding to my position in $BROS ( ▼ 3.25% ) , and doubling down on $AFRM ( ▲ 10.59% ) , and why prediction markets could be the next trillion-dollar crypto trend—just ask $COIN ( ▼ 1.27% ) CEO Brian Armstrong. Plus: Chipotle drone deliveries via Zipline, $NVDA ( ▼ 3.33% ) ’s big moment, and what to expect at this year’s Stocktoberfest.
You can follow along with how I have been investing along this theme the last few years with the index I created here.
