Time Flies When You are Doing What You Love

Yesterday I got an alert from a portfolio company Etoro (Israel) that they just turned 16 years old.

Yesterday, I hand delivered a first check (seed investment) term sheet to a local Phoenix company.

I really love my job/career.

Ellen and I took my good friend Ryan Gilbert to the Suns game last night. He was in town for some LP and company meetings from Oakland. He is an LP of ours and we have invested together for 10 years. After the game we took Ryan to the airport for a redeye flight to new York for a few days of meetings before he heads back to Oakland on Friday. He's not ancient old like me, but he's closing in on 50 and loves what he does.

When you love what you do, you just do it until you drop.

Everyone should love what they do. I have written about this on the blog before, but I have a stronger feeling than ever that more and more people are going to do what they love to do (at least have an opportunity to do so).

I did not find the career I am passionate about until iI was past 40, so take it easy on yourself when complaining about your first and second job/career.

One of the reasons I like mentoring people and investing in emerging managers the last few years is it is fun to spot, coach and mentor other people that might get to do what they love for a long time as well.

Hope this helps a few people stressed about their current path.
