This chart got in my head the other day…

Unicorns are scarce. They are supposed to be scarce and mythical.

The real silliness started in 2016 as Softbank geared up for their first $100 billion ‘Vison’ fund. I have covered how I saw it start before as they poured capital into Wag, one of our seed investments.

In many ways, the ‘vision’ was genius. Masa at Softbank would take this money and just create Unicorns.

I mean why should Masa worry about the aftermath?

Back in 2020, it was becoming obvious to me that this ‘supply’ would eventually crush us all. By late 2021…we were drowning.

The bubble is over but the Unicorns are still being triaged.

The great news about markets is that people are people and cycles are cycles and the next bubble can begin.
